We are passionate about the benefits of a vegan lifestyle, especially a plant based diet. When we are interacting with the world, the most common question we are asked (besides “where do you get your protein?”) is “what do you eat?” and, we usually respond “Well, a lot of rice and beans!”. When people hear this response, they seem less than thrilled, for obvious reasons. Rice and beans sounds down right boring. We get it, but in reality, it’s anything but boring. Through much trial and error we have developed a seemingly endless supply of different combinations of rice and beans that are tasty, easy and inexpensive. We wanted to show you how exciting and tasty rice and beans can be and thus, the rice and beans menu matrix was born.
We also believe that a plant based lifestyle should be accessible to each and every one of the 7.5 billion people on this planet regardless of where you live, how busy your life is, your level of cooking skill or how much money you have in your bank account. You do not need to be an expert chef or use fancy expensive ingredients at the fancy health food store to follow a healthy plant based diet. All you need is rice and beans (and greens)! This is why we try to provide simple, inexpensive recipes and techniques to help you whether you are just experimenting with a plant-based diet, need ideas for meatless Monday or are looking for new plant-based dishes to compliment your current regime.
